What credit check happens when I pay by invoice?

What credit check happens when I pay by invoice?

We use a "conditional inquiry" (Konditionsanfrage) through SCHUFA to assess invoice payment eligibility. This type of check does not affect your credit score and is not visible to other lenders.

Why we check

Invoice payment means we ship products before receiving payment. To offer this responsibly, we verify that businesses can reasonably meet payment terms. This protects both you from overcommitting and us from unpaid invoices.

What we think is fair: Everyone benefits from invoice payment options, but extending credit requires basic verification. We use the gentlest check available—one that leaves no mark on your credit file.

How it works

  1. You choose invoice payment at checkout
  2. We submit a conditional inquiry to SCHUFA
  3. SCHUFA returns a recommendation based on your business data
  4. We decide whether to offer invoice terms

The entire process takes seconds and happens automatically during checkout.

Quick tip: If invoice payment isn't offered, try paying with card for this order. Your credit status may change, and invoice might be available for future orders.

What data is shared

With SCHUFA:

  • Company name and address
  • Order value
  • Payment terms requested (net 14 days)

We do NOT share:

  • What you're buying
  • Your purchase history with us
  • Personal details beyond business contact

Good to know: SCHUFA is Germany's leading credit agency, used by most retailers offering invoice payment. Their data handling complies with GDPR.
