Where can I find product certifications?

Where can I find product certifications?

Most certification details are on the product page, but if you need full documents (CE certificates, test reports, Declaration of Conformity), email orders@droppe.com with your order number—brands must provide them on request.

What certifications you'll find where

On product pages (always visible):

  • CE marking status (yes/no)
  • Safety standards (EN 388, EN ISO 20345, etc.)
  • Performance class (S1/S2/S3 for shoes, Class 1/2/3 for hi-vis)
  • Material certifications (Oeko-Tex, REACH compliance)
  • Basic compliance information

Not on product pages (request from us):

  • Declaration of Conformity (DoC)
  • Test reports from notified bodies
  • Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  • Full technical specifications
  • Manufacturer's instructions (if not included with product)

Good to know: Brands are legally required to provide these documents on request. If you're buying PPE for a workplace, your safety manager might need them before approval.

Why certifications aren't all downloadable

The honest reason: Certification documents can be 50+ pages of technical data. Hosting them all on product pages would:

  • Slow down page loading (bad for mobile users)
  • Overwhelm buyers who just need basic info
  • Create confusion (10 documents vs 1 clear summary)
  • Require constant updates when brands renew certifications

Our approach: Key info on product pages. Full documents on request. Fast turnaround (usually within 1 business day).

How to request certification documents

Method 1: Email us (most common)

Email: orders@droppe.com

Subject line: "Certification Documents Request: [Product Name]"

Include:

  • Order number (if you already ordered) or product URL
  • Which documents you need (see list below)
  • Why you need them (optional but helps us prioritize—e.g., "safety manager approval," "compliance audit")

Response time: 1 business day for simple requests, 2-3 days if we need to chase brands for updated docs.

Quick tip: If you're ordering PPE for a workplace and know you'll need certifications, mention it in your order notes. We'll send them proactively.

Method 2: Request before ordering

For bulk orders or safety-critical purchases:

Contact us BEFORE ordering if certifications are deal-breakers. We'll get documents from brands and send them for review.

Why this helps: Avoids ordering products that don't meet your specific requirements, then having to return them.

Types of documents you can request

1. Declaration of Conformity (DoC)

What it is: Manufacturer's written statement that product meets EU regulations

Who needs it:

  • Workplace safety managers
  • Compliance officers
  • Auditors checking PPE compliance

What it includes:

  • Product identification (model, serial number)
  • EU regulations met (PPE Regulation 2016/425, etc.)
  • Notified body details (for PPE Category II & III)
  • Manufacturer's signature and date

Format: PDF, usually 1-2 pages

Quick tip: For PPE, the DoC must list the notified body's 4-digit number. If it's missing, that's a red flag for fake certification.

2. Test Reports (from Notified Bodies)

What it is: Lab results showing product passed safety tests

Who needs it:

  • Technical buyers evaluating product performance
  • Safety engineers comparing options
  • Quality control teams

What it includes:

  • Test methods used (EN 388 for gloves, EN ISO 20345 for shoes, etc.)
  • Performance levels achieved
  • Test date and lab details
  • Pass/fail results for each criterion

Format: PDF, can be 20-50 pages (very technical)

Note: Test reports are highly detailed. If you just need confirmation of certification level, the DoC is simpler.

3. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS/SDS)

What it is: Information about chemical composition and safety handling

Who needs it:

  • Buyers of chemical-resistant gloves or clothing
  • Workplace safety teams managing hazardous materials
  • Environmental compliance officers

What it includes:

  • Chemical composition
  • Health and safety warnings
  • First aid measures
  • Proper storage and disposal

Format: PDF, standardized format (16 sections)

Required by law: EU REACH regulation requires MSDS for products containing certain chemicals.

4. Instructions for Use (IFU)

What it is: Manufacturer's guide on how to use product safely

Who needs it:

  • Employers training workers on PPE use
  • Safety managers creating SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)

What it includes:

  • Proper wearing/fitting instructions
  • Limitations of protection
  • Maintenance and cleaning
  • Storage requirements
  • When to replace product

Note: IFU should be included with product, but if missing or in wrong language, we can get translated versions from brands.

5. Full Technical Specifications

What it is: Detailed product specs beyond what's on website

Who needs it:

  • Engineers evaluating fit for specific applications
  • Procurement teams comparing detailed specs
  • R&D teams assessing materials

What it includes:

  • Exact dimensions and tolerances
  • Material compositions and suppliers
  • Weight and bulk specifications
  • Environmental resistance ratings

How long does it take to get documents?

Document Type

Typical Turnaround

Declaration of Conformity

1 business day

MSDS (if already on file)

1 business day

Test reports

1-2 business days

IFU in alternate language

2-3 business days

Custom technical specs

3-5 business days

Why variation? Some brands have documents ready to send. Others need to dig through archives or translate documents.

If urgent: Call us instead of emailing. We can chase brands faster for time-sensitive requests.

What if a brand won't provide documents?

You're protected—we enforce document requirements.

Brands that list on Droppe agree to provide certification documents on request. If they refuse:

  1. We escalate internally with brand's account manager
  2. We pull product from marketplace if documents don't exist (possible fake certification)
  3. You get a refund if you ordered based on certification claims that can't be proven

Our promise: If a brand lists a product as "CE certified" but can't provide proof, that's fraud. We don't tolerate it.

Verifying certifications yourself

Want to double-check authenticity?

For PPE (CE marked products):

1. Check notified body is legitimate:

  • Get 4-digit number from Declaration of Conformity or product itself
  • Look it up: EU NANDO Database
  • Verify the notified body is authorized for that product category

2. Red flags:

  • DoC lists no notified body (required for PPE Cat II & III)
  • Notified body number doesn't exist in NANDO database
  • Brand refuses to provide DoC
  • CE marking looks like "China Export" logo (similar but different)

For Material Safety:

Check REACH compliance:

  • ECHA Database - EU chemicals database
  • Search for specific materials if concerned about restricted substances

What we're doing to make this easier

Current limitations:

  • Documents scattered (brands manage their own)
  • Request-based system (not instant)
  • Language barriers (some docs only in manufacturer's language)

Future improvements:

Digital Product Passports (2026+):

  • QR codes on products linking to all certification documents
  • Real-time verification of compliance
  • Multi-language document availability
  • Instant download without contacting us

Our preparation: Working with brands now to digitize and centralize certification documents so we're ready when EU requirements kick in.

Examples of certification requests we've handled

Workplace safety manager: Needed DoC and test reports for 50 pairs of safety gloves before approving bulk order. We sent all documents within 2 hours. Order approved same day.

Compliance auditor: Required MSDS for chemical-resistant gloves during facility inspection. Customer didn't have original documentation. We sent MSDS within 30 minutes—audit passed.

Procurement team: Comparing 5 different safety shoe models, needed detailed technical specs to evaluate. We coordinated with all 5 brands, sent comparison spreadsheet within 3 days.

Training coordinator: Needed IFU in Finnish for harness training program (product came with English only). Brand provided Finnish translation within 4 days.

Your rights under EU law

PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425:

Manufacturers must provide:

  • Declaration of Conformity (on request)
  • Instructions for Use (included with product or available on request)
  • Information about notified body (visible on product or DoC)

You don't need to explain why you want these documents. They're legally required to provide them.

REACH Regulation (EC) 1907/2006:

Suppliers must provide MSDS for products containing hazardous substances above certain thresholds—automatically, not just on request.
