What is Droppe's 30-day returns policy?

What is Droppe's 30-day returns policy?

You have 30 days from delivery to return unused workwear with free return shipping—way more generous than the 14-day legal minimum.

Two types of return rights

Here's what most people don't realize: there are actually two return policies running at the same time.

14-Day Statutory Right (for individual consumers)

What it is: EU Consumer Rights Directive gives individual buyers the right to cancel any online purchase within 14 days—no questions asked, no reason needed.

Who it applies to: Only if you're buying as an individual consumer (not a business).

Exceptions: Customized products (logo printing) are exempt from this 14-day right under EU law (Article 16(c)). Once we print your logo, it's personalized—can't be resold to someone else.

30-Day Voluntary Returns (for everyone)

What it is: We give ALL customers—businesses and individuals—30 days to try workwear at home and return it if it doesn't work out.

Why we do this: Workwear isn't like regular clothes. You need time to check fit and comfort properly. Two weeks isn't enough.

The catch: Returns must pass inspection (unused, tags attached, resalable). If they do, return shipping is free.

Why 30 days instead of 14?

The honest reason: Workwear decisions take time. You might order safety boots and realize after a week that they're not quite right for your team. Or you order multiple sizes to compare. By day 10, you're still figuring it out.

We think 14 days is too rushed. 30 days lets you make confident decisions without pressure.

What we think is fair: You get generous time. Brands get items back in resalable condition. We cover return shipping when inspection passes. This system only works if everyone does their part.

How the 30-day policy works

  1. Order arrives - Your 30-day window starts from delivery date
  2. Try at home - Walk around indoors, check fit and comfort
  3. Decide within 30 days - Keep it or start a return
  4. Return via returns.droppe.com - Print free return label
  5. Ship back - Drop at carrier location
  6. Inspection - We check if items are unused and resalable
  7. Refund - Processes within 1-2 business days after passing inspection

Quick tip: The 30-day clock starts from delivery, not order date. If delivery takes 5 days, you still get 30 full days after it arrives.

What "unused" means

Try products at home exactly like you would in a physical store:

Do:

  • Walk around indoors on clean floors
  • Try on over your clothes
  • Check pockets, zippers, features
  • Compare sizes if you ordered multiple

Don't:

  • Wear outdoors or in work environments
  • Remove safety tags or CE markings
  • Use for actual work purposes
  • Wash or alter items

Good to know: "Try at home" doesn't mean "use at work." Workwear worn on job sites may be exposed to contaminants, dirt, or safety hazards—making them non-resalable.

What if I'm past 30 days?

Defective products: If something breaks or has a manufacturing defect, you're covered by the 2-year legal guarantee (German law BGB §437). That's warranty, not returns policy—and it lasts way longer than 30 days.

Changed your mind: If 30 days have passed and the product isn't defective, we can't accept returns. The voluntary return window has closed.

Business vs individual buyers

Both get 30 days, but the legal basis is different:

Individual Consumers

Business Buyers

30-day returns

✓ Voluntary policy

✓ Voluntary policy

14-day statutory right

✓ EU Consumer Rights Directive

✗ Not applicable

Customized items

✗ Exempt (unless defective)

✗ Exempt (unless defective)

Return shipping

Free (if passes inspection)

Free (if passes inspection)

Bottom line: Everyone gets 30 days. Individual consumers also have a legal 14-day "cancel for any reason" right (doesn't apply to customized items).

What can't be returned?

Even within 30 days, some items are exempt:

  • Customized products (logo printing, embroidery) - unless defective
  • Hygiene-sealed items that were opened (if applicable for specific products)
  • Items used outdoors or in work environments (fail inspection)

Our philosophy on returns

We think generous return policies build trust. You're more confident ordering workwear online when you know you have 30 days to make sure it's right.

But it only works if returns come back resalable. Brands need to recover costs by reselling returned items. If returns arrive worn or damaged, they absorb losses—and eventually, generous policies disappear for everyone.

Fair deal: 30 days to try. Free return shipping. Items come back unused. Everyone wins.
